ACCESSIBILITY
ACCESS TO THE MUSEI REALI
The Musei Reali are, first of all, a big architectural structure, currently accessible from two entrances: the main one, that overlooks Piazzetta Reale towards Piazza Castello, and the lateral one, that overlooks Piazza San Giovanni, next to the Cathedral, behind the Bell tower. Both entrances allow access to the Ticket Office, the Royal Cafè and the Gardens.
ACCESS TO THE EXHIBITION
The visit itinerary is very extended: people with motor difficulties lacking their own deambulatory support, can ask the Ticket office for a wheelchair. The entrances are contained in the 3D map, where you’ll find other useful info concerning the visit.
The main floor of the Royal Palace is accessible by elevator (door measurements 75 cm) but
it is necessary to ask for assistance from the staff at the Box Office..
Access to the Gardens through the Court of Honour of the Royal Palace has no architectural barriers. Access to the visit itinerary is possible starting from the Royal Gardens where the entrance to the Savoy Gallery is located, free of architectural barriers. From here, via two free elevators (door size 110 cm) it is possible to reach the first floor of the Savoy Gallery and take the path in the direction of the noble floor of the Royal Palace or go down to the first basement floor and visit the collections of the Museum of Antiquities.
Right now, the Royal Kitchens, in the basement of the Royal Palace, the King’s Apartment and Queen Elena’s Apartment in the basement are inaccessible to wheelchairs.
The exhibition halls of the Royal Library’s Vault are accessible thanks to platforms and elevators (door measures 80 cm), with the customer services assistance.
If interested in activities and material in support of the visit, specifically intended for people with disabilities, visit our page dedicated to the educational services .
